So why not talk about change…
It is truly the only constant in life, the one thing we can without a doubt guarantee. From the aging process that is effortless to the internal and external world around us. We are always changing, the world is always changing and everyone around you is in the same perpetual process of change. Some changes we direct and we desire, others are given to us in the form of challenges or obstacles which can take many forms. Either way, there's one thing that I know for sure, things are changing.
Think of some times, three examples of when you embraced change.
Got married?
Became a parent?
Got divorced?
Got fired? Got Hired?
How did it feel to embrace these changes?
Think of some times, three examples of when you resisted change.
How did it feel to resist change?
So often the root of suffering is our resistance to change. How silly to think that all changes will be in our favor and concerned about our ultimate comfort, right? I mean, in an infinite universe will billions of people, we gotta take turns here and there, right?
The question isn't if your life has changed in ways that you preferred or not, it's how did you handle it?
Who did you become because of it?
Are you still struggling to process and evolve from those changes?
These questions are so important to do some discovery on because if you are stuck, it's most likely because you are stuck in resistance and it's time to embrace your life as it is and get back to work building it to a place that feels good to you now. Life will kick your ass every once in a while to see if you're still paying attention, we actually need the resistance for our own evolution, growth and maturation process.
Pain is a huge motivator for change, it makes you slow down, take inventory and start to direct change. Sadly, often pain is how we learn.
So how can we make pain less painful? See it as your teacher, that you are ready to learn more about the human experience, that this journey will introduce you to new people, new sensations, new parts of yourself not otherwise revealed. That it is the hero's journey, the hills and valleys, the characters you meet along the way and the ultimate overcoming, surrendering to and humility that comes after a worthy challenge has crossed your path.
We are not the same after overcoming as we were before. These are vital chapters in the book called "you", don't be so quick to get through it or over it, there is gold here if you are open to seeing it. A good challenge is an interesting story to tell later and I know none of you wish to be boring, anyway. So let's change the perspective on change! It's coming anyway, in ways I desire and ways that I despise, how do I use both for my growth, evolution and as a new chapter in my book.
The Fall season is all about the harvest, it's time to reflect on the past 9 months and see what seeds you planted in the Spring, what you tended to and nurtured in the Summer and now, the bounty you will harvest in the Fall. It's time for harvest, for abundance, for community, for sharing. Remember, so much of the richness of life is in giving. So give, be generous, share and receive what others want to share with you.
As always, I appreciate and honor your paths, where you are on your journey and the courage that it takes to want more, better and a healthier life.
Much Love,
Christine
